What Are the A-Series Industrial Portable Booths?
The Mobile Work Station® A-Series portable booths are the same productivity-inducing, time-saving pieces of equipment as the standard Mobile Work Station® line — only bigger. Originally developed for a customer in the aerospace manufacturing industry, these models have become popular for aviation maintenance, recreational and specialty vehicle manufacturing, and a variety of other industrial applications.
The A-Series models are complete portable limited finishing workstations that allow you to prep and paint areas of larger equipment wherever needed. Key advantages include a larger 10′ × 10′ × 10′ curtained work area, heavier gauge enclosure supports, an extended-height exhaust assembly (2 feet higher than standard), and caster support extensions for increased stability.

Bigger, Built for Industry
For applications where it’s impractical to move the item being worked on to a fixed paint booth, the A-Series portable booths bring industrial-scale filtration and containment to the work. The larger 10′ × 10′ × 10′ curtained work area accommodates bigger workpieces, while the extended-height exhaust assembly (2 feet higher than standard models) and caster support extensions provide the stability and clearance needed for industrial operations.

Energy Savings Over Fixed Booths
For larger items, the A-Series attached enclosure system is designed to enclose only the area being worked on, rather than the entire item. This provides significant energy savings over a large fixed paint booth that requires larger motors, fans, and heated or cooled make-up air. Combined with the patented non-venting recirculation design, the A-Series keeps conditioned air in your facility while delivering professional-grade filtration.
Direct Drive, Hazardous Location Design
All A-Series models feature the upgraded 1-1/2 HP sealed, maintenance-free UL Listed motor rated for hazardous locations. The direct-drive fan assembly eliminates belts, and backward-curved aluminum fan wheels provide non-sparking operation with quiet, efficient performance. Motors can be configured for 115V or 230V single-phase power.

1-1/2 HP Hazardous Location Motor
All A-Series models feature the upgraded 1-1/2 HP sealed, maintenance-free motor — the most powerful option in the Mobile Work Station® lineup. The motor is UL Listed and rated for hazardous locations, meaning it’s specifically designed and certified for use in environments where flammable vapors, gases, or dust may be present.
The direct-drive fan assembly eliminates belts for zero-maintenance operation, and backward-curved aluminum fan wheels provide non-sparking operation with quiet, efficient performance. Motors can be configured for 115V or 230V single-phase power to match your facility’s electrical setup.
3,500 CFM Airflow
CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute) measures the volume of air moving through the unit’s filter set. All A-Series models deliver 3,500 CFM — the maximum airflow available in the Mobile Work Station® product line — providing robust air movement for industrial-scale painting and coating operations.
The multi-stage filtration system achieves 99.78% efficiency on overspray, including activated charcoal and carbon filters for VOC removal. The patented non-venting recirculation design keeps conditioned air in your facility while delivering professional-grade containment and filtration.
Curtain Enclosure System
The A-Series curtain enclosure assembly provides a 10′ × 10′ × 10′ enclosed work area — significantly larger than the standard Mobile Work Station® enclosure. The enclosure features heavier gauge supports for stability and is constructed with soft, double-polished clear flame-resistant .020 PVC that meets NFPA 701 requirements for flame resistance.
The enclosure is designed to enclose only the area being worked on, rather than the entire item — a major advantage when working on larger equipment. Models 5400A and 5410A include the curtain enclosure. Base models (5450A, 5460A) are available without the enclosure for open-air filtration applications.
Fire Suppression System
A dedicated on-board dry chemical fire suppression system is available for A-Series models. The system provides automatic fire detection and suppression within the unit and is recommended for facilities with strict fire safety requirements or insurance mandates.
Models 5460A (without enclosure) and 5410A (with enclosure) include fire suppression as part of their standard configuration. Fire suppression can be combined with the curtain enclosure for maximum safety compliance. Contact us for details.
